Centre PhDs Join AHRC Research Project

Two PhD researchers associated with the Centre, and supervised by TV Centre director Professor John Hill, have joined the AHRC-funded research project ‘Women’s Screen Work in the Archives Made Visible’ led by Professor Helen Hanson at the University of Exeter. Jess Boyall has joined the project as Postdoctoral Research Associate (Archive) while Katie Crosson has become Postdoctoral Research Associate (Curation). Katie’s thesis, entitled ‘Replay for Today: Revisiting Play for Today (1970-1984) at Fifty’ looks back at the history and legacy of the TV strand Play for Today while Jess Boyall’s thesis, entitled ‘Black, British and Feminist: The History and Legacy of Ceddo, Sankofa and the Black Audio Film Collective’, examines the role of women in the Channel 4-funded black workshops of the 1980s. Both will be involved in researching, and exhibiting, the work of women in the British screen industries and we wish them and the project well.
