Television Centre contributes to Media Arts research success

The Department of Media Arts is happy to announce excellent results in the 2021 Research Excellence Framework (REF). The department’s research outputs, which included books, journals and television productions linked to the work of the Centre, were ranked 2nd for “world-leading” research (rated 4*) across all UK universities. Both Media Arts impact case-studies were based on the work of the Centre and were rated a mix of 4* – ‘world-leading’ – and 3*– ‘internationally excellent’. The first of these case-studies derived from the ADAPT project and focused on the online provision of  television programmes for learning and research. The second emerged from the Forgotten Television Drama project and focused on the enhancement of the availability of little-known television drama and influence upon the policies and practice of exhibitors, distributors and archivists in relation to neglected television material.  The results and submissions for all UK universities may be found here
